I am fully bilingual in Spanish and English. I have 10+ years of experience working with children and adults providing individual and family counseling, including extensive experience providing trauma-informed care with immigrant families and youth involved with the foster care and juvenile justice systems. I will strive to instill hope by empowering clients to discover and build on their own strengths. I believe therapy can help individuals navigate through difficulties so it doesn’t feel like we are doing it alone. Come with me to the journey of introspection and we will find healing in the end.
Life challenges such as depression, anxiety, transitions, grief, relationships, or immigration can be difficult at all ages of life. Having a passionate therapist with a trauma-informed approach who believes in individualizing treatment to your specific needs is key during the healing process.
I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques during therapy. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults experiencing a variety of obstacles.

Hoping that your situation will turn out for the better, especially during difficult times, is extremely important; hope alone however, will only take you so far. My aim, as your therapist, is to assist you in identifying the connection between your beliefs, behaviors, and the challenges you’re experiencing. I use sound therapeutic models to frame our therapuetic approach in session, and together, we’ll work to enhance your outlook, build your skills, and reframe your life. I truly believe you’re remarkable and more resilient than you know; my goal is to help you see that. Let’s go All In, together.
I use CBT, Positive Psychology, and other solution focused techniques to assist all clients in understanding/working through presenting challenges. I specialize in working with men, a grossly under served population, to address their unique cognitive, social and emotional needs and couples in therapy. Let’s go All In, together.
As a clinical mental health counselor, I assist men, women, couples and adolescents in addressing a wide range of mental/spiritual health challenges, issues, and needs. My experience, education, and training in supporting people and their wellbeing expands over two decades.

Ann Johnson

My name is Ann Kimbrough Johnson (otherwise known as Kim) and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 24 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, families and individuals of diverse backgrounds. My treatment approach utilizes my diverse skill set and is based on a thorough assessment of my client’s goals and related needs. This individualized approach enables me to understand and meet my clients where they are and get them to where they need/want to be. I graduated with my Masters’ Degree in Social Work at the University of Houston, Texas.
Since that time, I have devoted myself to the field of mental health by empowering clients to develop the inner strength and related skills they need to endure and overcome life’s many challenges. Life frequently can seem unfair and confusing. I understand that this can leave you feeling lost, overwhelmed, and wondering why.
We are all looking for our own kind of understanding, inner-peace, self-love, happiness and healing. I know how to get you there and would be honored to help. Finally, my shout out to you about considering and possibly embarking on this journey.

What Our Team Is Saying

A typical day at work starts and ends on your preferred schedule. I have learned what works for me and the management team makes things effortless. Great workplace culture in our 24/7 online support chats. Hardest part of the job like any other job is ensuring completion of tasks by deadlines, but overall no major stressors. The most enjoyable part of the job is the work from home benefits and schedule flexibility.

Great teamwork and collaboration.LPC Current Employee - Austin, TX

I am greatly enjoying my time with VCounselors! I began almost exactly a year ago, and have been able to advance to a Team Lead position. The culture is very high morale! We’re extremely engaged with each other; to the point where I’ve felt more support, being fully virtual, than I have in-person jobs. I’ve really appreciated the constant praise we receive; management is not afraid to show love and gratitude to the clinicians! I began full time & they had my schedule full my very first week. The demand for accessible mental health care is ever-growing. I feel so blessed to be able to provide accessible care, through this amazing organization. Flexible. High morale. Great patients. Amazing administrative support (I mean phenomenal). I feel no stress working here.

I love it! Very purposeful work.LPC Current Employee - Remote

Over the past year of working with the company, the of one things that stands out the most is the amount of communication and support received from all employees. They are open and flexible about your schedule (as long as they are given proper notice) and help you secure a large desirable case load. The staff are great with providing a supportive atmosphere, even though we all work from home, I still feel like I have my team surrounding me daily with encouragement and knowledge. Office managers are great with questions and are quick to help any problems or contact clients when necessary.

Flexibility, Compensation, SupportLPC Current Employee - San Antonio, TX

I have only worked for this company for a short time. In that time I have received so much support and encouragement by all areas of the comany. I can guarantee that there will be multiple people throughout my day checking in on me to see how things are going and if I need anything. I can't say enough good about my teammates.

This is by far the most supportive atmosphere in which I have worked.Contract Therapist

I love the flexibility of this job. It’s great to have sessions on my own schedule and on my own terms. I also have great support from the office manager and my fellow colleagues.
