Frequently Asked Questions

1. What insurance do you accept?

We are in-network with most major commercial, Medicare and Texas Medicaid insurance plans.
Coverage may vary depending on your particular plan eligibility and services.

2. What is the cost for the session?

For those using insurance, your out-of-pocket costs (such as copays, deductibles, or coinsurance) depend on your specific benefits plan. Our billing team verifies insurance benefits two business
days before your appointment.

Tip: We also recommend calling the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card to confirm your mental health benefits.

Prefer to self-pay? Visit our Billing page for our current private pay rates, which vary depending on the type of service provided.

3. Does your center prescribe medication?

While our therapists do not prescribe medication, we work closely with licensed psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. If medication is recommended as part of your treatment plan, your therapist will refer you, and we will help coordinate the next steps with one of our trusted
community partners.

4. Do you have weekend appointments?

Yes, some of our providers offer evening and weekend appointments. However, your first intake session will likely be scheduled during weekday business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM) to ensure all new patient paperwork is completed prior to treatment. Let us know if you’re looking for weekend or evening availability, and we’ll match you with a provider who can
accommodate your schedule.

5. Can you test for ADHD?

Yes, our clinicians are trained to assess for ADHD and other mental health conditions using evidence-based assessment tools. We also offer comprehensive psychological evaluations conducted by licensed psychologists for children, teens, and adults, which may include IQ testing, behavioral observations, and diagnostic reports. For more information on psychological evaluations check out our Testing tab.

6. How often do we need to come in?

This is a collaborative decision between you and your therapist. Most clients begin with weekly sessions, especially in the early stages of care.

A standard treatment plan typically includes a minimum of 6–8 sessions, as this is when many individuals begin to see meaningful progress, such as a reduction in symptoms, improved emotional regulation, or better day-to-day functioning.

Your therapist will discuss your concerns during the intake session and recommend a frequency that supports your goals. Over time, your treatment plan may be adjusted depending on your progress, preferences, and clinical recommendations.

7. What can I expect from our initial appointment?

The first appointment is a 50-60 minute intake session. You’ll discuss your current concerns, goals, mental health history, and preferences. Together with your therapist, you’ll begin creating a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

8. Are Tele-Therapy services beneficial?

Yes! Numerous studies confirm that teletherapy is just as effective as in-person care for many mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and relationship issues. Our licensed clinicians are trained to provide high-quality care through our secure, HIPAA- compliant video platform. Teletherapy offers several added benefits, including:

  • Convenience: Attend sessions from your home, office, or any private space
  • No commute or traffic: Save time and reduce stress by skipping the drive
  • Greater access to care: Ideal for individuals in rural areas or those with limited mobility
  • Flexible scheduling: Easier to fit therapy into your busy life, including early mornings or
    evenings
  • Comfort and privacy: Engage in therapy in an environment that feels safe and familiar

We’re committed to making care accessible and flexible, without compromising quality.

9. How do you conduct play therapy virtually?

Virtual play therapy is creative, interactive, and effective. Children engage from the comfort of their home using toys, games, or art materials they already have. Our clinicians may also incorporate screen-sharing activities like games or videos that are carefully chosen for therapeutic purposes. All sessions are secure and adapted to the child’s age and developmental level.

10. Why do you need my credit card on file?

We require a credit or debit card on file to streamline billing and reduce administrative delays. It’s used to process copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and late cancellation or no-show fees. Your card is stored securely in our HIPAA-compliant system, and charges are applied in accordance with your consent for services and our financial policies.

11. What is the difference between a copay, coinsurance, deductible, and out-of-pocket maximum?

Understanding your insurance can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to help. Here’s a breakdown of the three most common out-of-pocket costs you may encounter:

  • Copay: A copayment (or copay) is a fixed amount you pay for each therapy session, set by your insurance plan.
    • Example: Your plan may require a $25 copay per visit.
  • Coinsurance: A Coinsurance is a percentage of the session cost that you’re responsible for after you’ve met your deductible.
    • Example: If your plan has 20% coinsurance and the session is $150, you would pay $30.
  • Deductible: A deductible is the total amount you must pay out-of-pocket each year before your insurance begins covering services.
    • Example: If your deductible is $1,000, you are responsible for the full cost of services until that amount is met.
  • Out-of-Pocket Maximum: This is the maximum amount you’ll pay in a year for covered healthcare expenses (including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance). Once you reach this amount, your insurance will cover 100% of covered services for the rest of the year.
    • Example: If your out-of-pocket max is $3,000, and you reach that by June, the rest of your therapy sessions for the year would be covered at no cost to you.

Our team verifies your benefits before your appointment, and we’re happy to answer any questions to help you understand your financial responsibility.

12. How are therapists verified?

All therapists are fully licensed or supervised by licensed clinicians, and are in good standing with their respective Texas licensing boards. We verify their credentials, identity, and licensure status before they join our team. Continuous training and peer consultation ensure our providers stay current with best practices in the field.
